Book Bonanza on Quadra Island

bbTonight my husband and I are at one of the most beautiful places on the west coast of Canada. Tomorrow there will be pictures. Tonight I am doing a cross stitch and have three new books* in front of me from the best bookstore on the planet. It is a small local bookstore that is run by a woman who I want to hug whenever  I see her but she would likely think me weird. Her store is my own personal Nirvana. The owner is a sister/kindred soul type of person and does all the buying for the store. There are thousands of different titles and she must be some type of Book Goddess to know what to buy. What I love most is not only is it not a Chapters/Indigo (that has put almost ever small locally owned bookstore out of business here in Canada) but the amount of books packed into a small space makes you want to fall to your knees. There are books everywhere! I am serious. It is like nothing you have ever seen or will see again. There is some order but mostly books are just shoved here and there and your find treasures whenever you turn around. Sadly, there is no website! If you ever make it to Quadra Island go to this bookstore. In fact, it is worth a trip to Quadra Island just to go to this bookstore. Yes. It is that good.

  1. Your book store sounds wonderful and charming. Humongous chain stores have put so many Main Street stores out of business, and now some of the chains are closing stores because of competition from Amazon and other internet shopping. I always support the local guy when I get the chance.

I love cross stitch. I used to do it years ago. I always loved how perfect it was. Few things in life are so perfect.

  2. Who can resist a good book store and one on Quadra Island too! I’ve been to Quadra Island once when I was a kid and don’t really remember much about it. Looking forward to seeing your pictures.
