What An Election!

I don’t think I took a full breath between the time that I voted and the time the election results were called. I always vote NDP and they did not do as well as I had hoped but  I am exceedingly happy, happier than I have ever been after any election. Justin Trudeau, Liberal, has been elected. And in my own riding, though very close when votes were first being counted it looked like my local NDP candidate was not going to be elected but she won with a very powerful lead. The Conservative in my riding didn’t even even show up for most of the debates, the arrogant ass. I spoke to my candidate when she came to my door and was proud to have the Orange (NDP) sign on my lawn.

So now I can breathe and be so grateful. No more Conservatives! Bring it on, Liberals!

  1. I hope you’ll not be disappointed, Birdie. I wish people here would go door to door but if they did, they’d likely get an earful and not like what they hear.

    • Oh, they do get earfuls to be sure. As with all politicians, they have their haters. Even though I love the candidate I voted for she still got an earful when she came to my door.

  2. And by the way, my birthday is next week (Oct. 27th), just in case you don’t get to see my post today. LOL! So I am celebrating Justin’s win in the meantime.

  3. I think it is good for politicians to hear from people. Including the negatives. Too many of them seem to think that they are different, somehow ‘above’ their constituents.
I hope that this is the start of a positive change for you.

  4. We also support NDP here but there was no hope here in Ontario. The Liberals were the better bet by far so I’m happy too! Mind you, I’m about to pay through the nose for my hydro electricity but still, so worth getting Harper out. 🙂

  5. When I saw the results of your election on television this morning, I told my husband that you would be happy. Congrats!

  6. I’m pleased enough with the results. Harper’s finally gone, thank gawd. I like Justin and I think he’ll make a good PM. It was time for generational change. I have my reservations, however, about that gang of thieves he runs with known as the Liberal Party. Time will tell!

  7. Presidential election for us will be next year. I am not looking forward to that. I would like Bernie Sanders to win. Clinton scares me to death. I really don’t trust her. Yes, I’m a Democrat, pro-choice but not a bleeding liberal like others. I hate Republicans because they are mostly pro-war, pro-life, pro-big fat bankers/wall street. The Tea Party is a joke, and it makes the Republicans look ridiculous.

  8. I’m in the middle of a Blue province, so it’s a bit tense here, as far as I can tell. I was frigging thrilled though. I took one of those “where do you rate politically?” quizzes and read up on each party and chose accordingly. I feel like I’m surrounded by a bunch of people who have always voted conservative so they continue to vote conservative. My husband and I got in a huge argument about it too, via texting. Awesome eh?
