I Love My Days Off

I slept in until 10:30 this morning. Oh yes, I did. I try not to feel too guilty considering I get up between 6:00 and 6:30 everyday. And then I got up and had coffee and bacon and eggs and hash browns. Yum!  I decided to re-season my cast iron frying pans because somewhere along they line they got unseasoned. And I changed the beds and did laundry. I also went to the library and picked up my daughter at her job to return a watch that she had bought for her boyfriend. I hung so many clothes in the line that there is no more room. I also addressed 10 birthday cards for my TOPS group because I am the Sunshine Girl.

Last night I went online to try to find some soap that doesn’t irritate my skin and make me break out in awful eczema. There are bars of soap on Etsy that are $13.00! And then they want another $12.00 for shipping. How much does it cost to ship a bar of soap? If you have troubles with math I will tell you that would end up being a $25.00 bar of soap. Who has that kind of money? Anyway, I didn’t end up getting soap but I better find some handmade soap soon. I am itchy. As one of my patients always says, “Itchy-skritchy-son-of-a-bitchy”.

Today Norbert, The Ungrateful Bastard, escaped outside and then say on the driveway mocking me. If I took a step towards him he moved away. When I ran after him he ran across the street and hid in the forest. He finally came home and is now sleeping on the floor. Poor exhausted baby.

Time to go clean a toilet.

  1. Have you tried Dr. Bronner’s baby soap? Did you do anything fun? I have to say, for a day off, you did a pile of work…I hope you had a nice evening. My male cat does the Norbert thing if he escapes the house…his idea of a game, I think.

  2. Hahaha “Time to go clean a toilet” !

Good luck with your soap quest, it can be quite the pain finding one that works. You are not alone!

  3. Markets here often sell home-made soap which they promise won’t irritate the most sensitive skins. And health food shops.
    Good luck.
And Norbert has a twin here. A much loved absolutely infuriating twin.

  4. I’ve been using mostly natural type products in the past few years and I love them. I can’t believe how long it took me to get to this point. But everything that is supposed to be good for us is so expensive. What the heck is all that about?

  5. I use Dr Bronner’s baby mild liquid soap. It’s great stuff. My eczema is completely gone and I don’t get itchy after using it. I also use it for my hair as a shampoo. You can find it at Amazon.com if you can’t find it at the drug store.

Also, the dogs on my blog header that you asked me about are not mine. Those little stinkers belong to the woman that made the costumes for them. They do kinda look like Spunky and Lucy (my fur babies).

  6. Why feel guilty? Days off are made for sleeping in and yummy breakfasts! I am snickering, imagining you dancing around the driveway with Norbert. I had a cat years ago who liked to sneak out of the apartment, and I had to lure him back down the stairs with a milk carton. And I lived in a fourth-floor walkup!
