Going Away and Back Again

We decided to go away for a couple of nights to a B&B and I am so glad we did. It is nice to get away even if the only reason is to appreciate being home. We did have a very nice time and ate and ate but “there is no place like home”. Personally, I love my bed and my bathtub and my loved-ones around me.

While away I bought myself a new purse to satisfy my inner hippee/Bohemian as well as a cheap bracelet that says, “Ground~Breathe~Center~Shield”, a good reminder for me.

poolOh, I also received my new MP3 player in the mail that I can take in the pool!  Eeeee! This was a treat for reaching my half-way-to-goal in weight loss. Though after the nights away I am back up a few pounds. Fuckity. I have been adding music like a mad woman. I have a question for you all. What is your favourite song that would go on your MP3 player?

The weather has really changed here in the Pacific Northwest. It is cold and damp and grey. it was a perfect night for making a stew. My daughter came home after school with three friends, all of them soaking wet. One of them was a young man of about 16 with a terrible case of acne. My heart broke for him because I have had acne since I was 12 and I know how hard it is. The only thing that has ever worked (after spending hundreds of dollars) is Witch Hazel and Tea Tree Oil. It is my own made up concoction. I currently use it twice a day and though my skin is not perfect it is the best it has ever been.

So, what one song would you first put on a new MP3 player?

  1. Congrats on making your halfway point!

My first choice on any song list is always Nexus by Dan Folgelberg. Have always loved it and it just belongs.

  2. I don’t have a MP3 player, or anything like it. I don’t think I could pick a favorite song, I like variety too much. When I’m alone I like to listen to CBC. Jian Ghomeshi is my boyfriend, in my mind!

  3. You’ll soon lose those lbs again. Glad you got a break and well done on reaching your goal. I always find it hard to choose just one thing when asked something like that. Having mulled it over, think Nina Simone How it Feels To Be Free might be one of the first songs I add. So hard not to give you a long list….. shh now Jan.

  4. OMG..OMG…OMG! Just like Jan said above…I want to give you a list of songs! How do I pick just one?? Music or song choices can be so personal. My music on my Iphone has saved me from myself on many occasions. My favorites change from day to day. Ask me this question next week and my answer will be different. Today it is Our Great God by Fernando Ortega but only because that song is new to me. It used to be Oceans by Hillsong United. And lately I’ve been listening to Helen Jane Long..piano music that stirs my soul like no other.

  5. I don’t have an MP3 player…but my favourite song is “To Sir with Love” by Lulu. Glad you got to spend some time away. I am like yourself, I prefer home, there is no place like it, but being able to get away now and then is great, to….and I am happy you were able to. 🙂
